Poverty or Riches?

I've heard many messages on the "Christian" being neither rich nor poor. Sometimes I wonder which is better?
Proverbs 30:7-9
7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
KJV
This was a prayer by Agur, as far as I can tell this is the only time he is mentioned in the Bible. He knew God and wanted to know that he didn’t want to lie or be full of pride. He also felt to be rich would keep him away from needing God; to be poor might cause him to steal and destroy his relationship with God. I wonder how many people today would find themselves better off praying this prayer.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with wealth if a person knows how to be a good steward, and not forget God.
3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosperth.
I believe this is the KEY that our soul has to prosper so we can not only prosper, but be in health.
